Normally, players should be specialized devices named "squeezeboxes". It has clients to control it from a web browser but also from your smartphone. It helps you manage your music library and search/play tracks, create playlists, access streaming services and so on. Now, here you have a really good community of people that will help you. Using my bridge is fine, but UPnP players can be temperamental and can be frustrating to tweak to work well under LMS.
Now, if you have only one UPnP device, don't know about LMS and just want to organize your library, there are other solutions that are UPnP aware and which might be easier to use (I don't want to say better because I don't want to start a useless heated debate and I don't have a strong opinion anyway). One important feature of LMS is to be able to play synchronized music on multiple players, but that does *not* work with upnp or chromecast. They are not produced anymore by Logitech, but some clones can be created using a raspberry Pi and some weirdos like me have made "bridges" that allow airplay/chromecast/upnp players to fake a real squeezebox and integrate them into the LMS "ecosystem".
